How to Create a New Profile & Request Access to a Committee in ORESTAR

ORESTAR is the elections reporting system developed by the Oregon Secretary of State. It is used by political committees to file statements of organization and campaign finance transactions electronically. This guide will walk you through the steps to create a new profile on ORESTAR and gain access to an existing committee.

Creating a New Profile on ORESTAR

  • Navigate to the ORESTAR Public Search Page
  • Sign Up for a New Profile
    • Click on the Sign Up now link.
    • Fill out the required fields (information in bold is mandatory).
    • Click Submit.
  • Select an Application
    • On the next page, select ORESTAR (Elections Reporting).
    • Click Submit.
  • Profile Home Page
    • You will be taken to the profile home page where you can manage your profile and password.

Setting Up a New Committee

  • Access ORESTAR (Elections Reporting)
    • From the profile home page, click on the ORESTAR (Elections Reporting) link.

Gaining Access to an Existing Committee

  • Application Management
    • From the Applications homepage, click on the Application Mgmt link.
    • Select ORESTAR (Elections Reporting) from the available options.
    • Click Submit.
  • Select a Committee
    • Scroll through the list of committees (listed in alphabetical order) to find the one you need access to.
    • Select the committee and click Submit.
  • Connect with the Committee Owner
    • Once these steps are complete, connect with the person who started the process so they can grant you access to the committee.

Important Reminders

  • Each user must have their own ORESTAR profile and should not have more than one profile, even if they serve on multiple committees.
  • Do not share your username or password with others.
